Creatures thrive in their native biomes on the map, while foreign biomes present unique challenges.

Players are allowed to see the tiles they have been given.
There are two decks of cards. The miscellaneous deck (containing spells and land cards), and the creature deck. Each player must draw 3 cards from the deck of their choice.
Decide on the order of play (clockwise, counter-clockwise). Each player places a single tile until the entire map is fully constructed. All tiles on the map must be connected (ensure there are no segregated islands).
Gold is used to summon creatures on the map. The cost of each creature is shown at the top right of the card.
Players are granted 3 moves (or actions) per turn.
Each player receives 1 additional gold per turn until they have summoned their first creature. This ensures all players eventually have enough gold to summon their first creature.
The first player to defend 9 − n * consecutively linked tiles for a full round of play wins.
* where n = number of players.
To summon a creature you must own (hold) a land card and have sufficient gold to pay for summoning it. The cost of the creature is shown at the top right of its card.
You may notice the land cards match the land tiles. Place the land card on top of its respective land tile. Then place the creature card on top of the land card. This is considered a single action. You may now use an additional action to move to an adjacent tile or harvest gold.
To harvest gold, you must have a creature occupying the location. The amount of gold harvestable is shown on the right side of the land tile.
Winning Mystic requires strategic positioning. Move your creature to an adjacent location and be weary of creature abilities and biome synergies.
Creature strength, indicated above the creature’s name, is used in battles for both attacking and defending. Battles can be initiated by any enemy creature on an adjacent tile. The defender and attacker each roll a six-sided die. The battle outcome is the creature’s strength plus the die roll result.
